Deus Ex Movie Announced

Well it’s official. A Deus Ex Movies is officially in the works and being formulated by the minds of Hollywood. People who remember the 2011 hit Deus Ex call it many things but the most common is descriptive words of the cyber punk glory that the site reigns down. This is colossal. This could turn out to be one hell of a movie and maybe even the one that jump starts Hollywood into the gaming world. Anyways I know you are here for the dirt so let me get down a dirty with it. CBS Films has announced today that it’ll be making a big screen adaption of Deus Ex . The story follows a man named Adam Jensen who is living in a future where technology has made great strides forward and people have taken to augmenting their bodies. Jensen is a former SWAT security specialist who is outfitted with mechanical tech and works to “unravel a global conspiracy,”. Right there is movie magic..but it gets better.

Word on the street is that sometimes yesterday Ubisoft revealed they had signed Tom Hardy on to star in an adaptation of the long running series Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, but now developer Square Enix is trying to trump that announcement with their Deus Ex adaption. The official title will be  Dues Ex: Human Revolution. Scott Derrickson, who directed the recently released Sinister and The Exorcism of Emily Rose, has come aboard to helm the film and will be working on the screenplay with his writing partner C. Robert Cargill.

For those gamers haven’t seen the flick, Sinister is a solid  horror movie, with lots of creepy imagery and a very memorable antagonist. Deus Ex isn’t exactly a horror story, but the gritty cyberpunk setting should mesh well with Derrickson’s and Cargill’s creative sensibilities.
